Choose how your overview sounds

These are individual voice previews, separate from the illustrative conversation below.

Marin voice preview

“Hi, I’ll lead today’s audio overview with clear explanations and a focused structure.”

Cedar voice preview

“Hi, I’ll add a second perspective as we work through the key points together.”

From source passage to conversation

Example source: A fictional tree-pilot brief describes summer observations and plans for winter readings.

Host 1: What can we conclude about the whole year?

Host 2: The brief only covers one summer. We would need the planned winter readings before extending the conclusion.

Follow the guide to your first audio overview

From reading list to audio overview

  1. Choose the material

Add documents, research papers, links, or notes to a notebook. Wait for processing and select the sources you want the episode to use. A focused source set helps keep the discussion relevant.

  2. Set the direction

Open Audio Overview in Studio. Choose a format, target duration, language, pace, and host voices. Add a focus topic such as key findings, disagreements, or an explanation for a new reader.

  3. Generate, listen, and revisit

Generation runs in the background and the notebook shows its progress. When the audio is ready, listen in the player, follow the transcript, or download the audio to review later.

Match the discussion to how you study

Use a brief overview before a seminar, an explainer when a topic is unfamiliar, or a deeper discussion to revisit a set of papers. The format and focus controls guide the episode; they do not add evidence that is missing from the selected sources.

Know the duration and credit limits

Free accounts can request audio overviews up to 5 minutes. Pro accounts can request up to 120 minutes. These are target durations, so the finished length can vary. Audio generation uses credits based on the requested duration; review the cost before starting.

Questions before you start

Can I choose the language and voices?

Yes. Audio Overview offers English, Spanish, French, German, Portuguese, Japanese, Korean, and Chinese, with separate voice selections for the two hosts. The previews on this page demonstrate individual voices.

Can I listen without leaving the notebook?

Yes. Completed audio opens in the notebook player alongside its transcript. You can return to the original sources when you want to check a detail and download the audio for later listening.

Is the audio a recording of my original document?

It is an AI-generated discussion based on the selected material, rather than a verbatim reading. Review the transcript and original sources for details you need to cite or rely on.
